My former career is education. I taught middle and high school English for 11 years (7 of those at Porter-Gaud School here in Charleston). I left education to work with my family as a Director for the Scapellato Group, Inc., a consulting company based in Charleston and Atlanta.
A career in real estate was ultimately the decision to get licensed and make all the house hunting and unofficial advice I was dispensing to friends more official. My personality seems geared to helping people and making something that seems complicated feel simple and understandable. It's why I love teaching; it's why I've been remarkably successful at real estate.
As to the name of my website (thewriteagent.com), I am a professional writer as well--both by training and practice (I have a masters degree in literature and writing). I regularly contribute book reviews to the Post & Courier newspaper here in Charleston, and am currently working on a novel.
